Where do I start?

Are you just getting started for the first time or you just haven't worked out of followed a good nutrition plan for quite some time and you are all Gung-Ho to start your New Year's Resolutions but you have no idea where to even begin? As as I mentioned before in the last blog entry, you must start small. Now, I don't mean for you to set small goals. On the contrary, set BIG goals, BUT know that you also need some smaller steps in order to get the the ultimate goal. Below is a breakdown of how you can set goals, reach them, AND not only maintain them, but build on them!

1. Start where you are: You MUST have a benchmark in order to see where you are starting from and where you are going. Use a scale, tapemeasurer, some form of bodyfat measure, or any other fitness test. If you do not know how to do this, go find a trainer to help!

2. Set your big goals: Set a goal just out of your reach, then set smaller goals leading up to that bigger goal. If you work well with a reward system, set that up as well. Just make sure you set yourself up for success on a daily and weekly basis so that you stay motivated.

3. Make a plan: It is said that if you don't know where you are going, you will certainly get SOMEWHERE. Well, that "somewhere" might not be where you REALLY want to be unless you have a plan and follow that plan. Otherwise, you just spin your wheels with no forward movement.

4. Get started! : Find one way to start NOW on your goals, do one thing (at leasts!) per day that leads you down the road to your eventual success.

5. Track your progress: Measure your progress every week so as to stay on track. If your plan needs tweaking along the way, tweak it! Or find someone that can help you. :)

Stay the Course, you CAN do ANYTHING you set your mind to!
