“Taking her passion and making it happen”, and that is exactly what she has done. Pam’s passion for health and fitness and making a difference in other people’s lives through exercise for the past 33 years has been the most rewarding career she could ever ask for and she is confident that it will continue to be. She believes wholeheartedly that exercise is the most “pure” form of medicine that there is and that every human being needs this prescription to obtain a very happy, healthy, energetic and wholesome lifestyle.

Her career started at the age of 8 with a pair of ice skates while growing up in the great state of Wisconsin. She became addicted to sports and exercise, especially the endorphin high, and it hasn’t stopped yet!  She played multiple sports growing up including cheerleading, ice skating, volleyball and a lot of other activities.  She points out one of the highlights of her career was taking her high school volleyball team to the state championship as their MVP 14 consecutive power serves.  Her athletic career continued in college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (on a Veterinary Science scholarship) making the Dean’s list numerous times while playing volleyball and running track.

Although she loves animals, she preferred working with humans and took a position with New Horizons Health Club in Green Bay as an aerobics instructor, thus starting her long career in fitness. At 28 years old, a freak injury during a game of flag football sidelined her for some time. She suffered a double fracture of her right leg.  This is where Pamela finally got into weight training. Her now ex-husband ( a Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer) and Virgil Knight ( the strength and conditioning coach of the G.B.Packers at the time) convinced her to compete in a local body building contest, the Wisconsin Bodybuilding Classic where she placed 2nd overall. Although it was a great experience, she didn’t think bodybuilding was the right fit for her and she blended her knowledge of general fitness, aerobics and weight training and eventually opened her first fitness studio in Green Bay.  Here, she made an aerobics video with the wives of the Green Bay Packer players and actually did a fitness show with Richard Simmons.
Life throws us all curves and when her now ex-husband was released from the Packers, she left Green Bay and headed South where they together ran a Racquetball and Fitness Club. Her career took many turns but they were always in a positive direction, eventually taking  a position as Club Manager and Group Fitness Director at a Gold’s Gym in Mobile, Alabama.  She was eventually transferred to Jacksonville, Florida and an entirely new chapter of her life and career began!
It was about this time that the city of Jacksonville was awarded an NFL expansion team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and she was immediately connected with the ROAR – the official cheerleading squad for the Jaguars. She spent 21 years on the sidelines with them as a fitness consultant, game-day coach and part of the field staff and currently remains a member of the PCA (Professional Cheerleader Alumni). She spent the better part of 13 years (1992 -2005) with the Gold’s Gym group before they were sold and then spent the next several years with Lifestyle Family Fitness as the Group Fitness Director and part of the Membership Sales team. Having a burning entrepreneurial spirit, she was able to buy one of the old Gold’s Gym locations in downtown Jacksonville (RiverFit Gym at the Landing) and owned and operated that for 6 years. The right opportunity came along and she sold that location and opened up her own Group Fitness studio  called Hey Gorgeous! Group Fitness Studio which is still in operation today.  She has won many sales and service awards and has been a featured fitness professional in the Florida Times Union and Jacksonville Business Journal.

Most of her family resides in South Florida and her desire to be closer to them got stronger.  So she sold her studio, packed her bags and headed south.  While she absolutely loves her family, she realized that Jacksonville is her “forever home” and that South Florida was not a good fit for her.  Now, she comes to Achieve Fitness with passion, experience and a pure love for life that is intoxicating and inspiring.  We know you’ll enjoy having her as part of the A-Team here for many years to come.  We gladly welcome her home.
Pamela is available for community events, membership tours, consultations, personal training and more.  You’ll even see her teaching Pilates and other Group X and TEAM Training classes.  Make sure you say hi- on second thought, she’ll probably beat you to it!
